Account age vs skill
A Steam account created weeks ago that already plays at a high level is the clearest smurf tell. Genuine new players improve over months, not days. CSWatch surfaces the account creation date next to in-game performance so the mismatch is obvious.
Low hours, high Premier rating
A few hundred CS2 hours paired with a 15,000+ Premier rating or FACEIT Level 8+ does not add up. Real skill at that tier takes thousands of hours. A steep hours-to-rank ratio is the single strongest smurf signal.
Steam level and library
Smurf accounts are cheap to make, so they stay bare: Steam level 0 to 2, one or two games owned, few badges, no trading history. A rich, aged library with years of activity points to a main account, not a smurf.
Private profile and hidden hours
Smurfs (and cheaters) hide game details so their hours and match history cannot be checked. A locked-down profile is not proof on its own, but combined with pro-level play on a young account it stacks the case.

They feel the same in the moment, someone far too good for the lobby, but they are different problems. A smurf is a skilled player on a secondary account. They win legitimately; the unfairness is the rank they are playing at, not the way they play. A cheater uses software to see or aim in ways the game does not allow.
The account fingerprints overlap, both favour young, bare, private accounts, which is why guessing from the scoreboard alone is unreliable. Smurfs win far more than they lose at the wrong rank, so their rating shoots up in a straight line. A genuine new player's rating wobbles as they find their level.
Calm under pressure, quiet comms
New players panic in clutches and ask basic questions. A smurf stays composed, calls sites and rotations correctly, and rarely needs anything explained. Game sense does not come with the account age.
The account signals back it up

Can you detect a smurf for free?

What account signals point to a smurf?

Is smurfing against the rules in CS2?
