How to Find a SteamID64 (Yours or Anyone's)

Three quick ways to find any Steam account's permanent 17-digit SteamID64, even behind a custom URL, plus how SteamID, SteamID3 and SteamID64 convert into each other.

Almost every CS2 tool, from ban checkers to stat sites, identifies players by their SteamID64: a 17-digit number that never changes, even when the player changes their name or custom URL. Here is how to find it for your own account or anyone else's.

What a SteamID64 looks like

A SteamID64 is 17 digits and always starts with 7656119, for example 76561197960287930. Display names and custom URLs can be changed at any time, but the SteamID64 is permanent, which is why it is the reliable way to track an account.

Method 1: the profile URL

Open the player's Steam Community profile in a browser. If the URL looks like steamcommunity.com/profiles/7656119..., the number at the end is the SteamID64. Done.

If it looks like steamcommunity.com/id/somename, the player has set a custom URL, which hides the number. You can still paste that custom URL into most tools (including ours), or use one of the methods below.

Method 2: in the Steam client

The Steam client hides web addresses by default. Turn them on under Settings → Interface → Display web address bars when available. Now open any profile in the client and the address bar shows the URL, the same as in a browser.

Method 3: your own account details

For your own account, open Account details in the Steam client or store. Your Steam ID is shown under your account name.

The other SteamID formats

You will sometimes see the same account written in older formats:

  • SteamID: STEAM_1:Y:Z, the legacy format used in old server logs and CS:GO tools.
  • SteamID3: [U:1:N], used in some console output and newer logs.

They all describe the same account. The maths is simple: the account number N equals Z × 2 + Y, and the SteamID64 is 76561197960265728 + N.

What you can do with it

With a SteamID64 or profile link you can look up any player's ban record, account age, ranks and community reports. Paste it into the VAC ban checker or the cheater checker, or paste up to 10 at once into Lobby Check to vet a whole match. If you are not sure what the result means, read how to check if any Steam account is VAC banned.
